Working with contractors outside your own department carries a level of risk. We know from direct experience that Facilities Managers frequently draw from a pool of contractors close to them. There is an assumption that these contractors have the proper licenses and insurances to do the work properly. These assumptions can put your project and business at risk. Don’t rush through the process of hiring a contractor! Establish proper systems so that you or who ever else is in charge of hiring them can go through the process of ensuring that they are correctly licensed, insured and are WHS compliant.
